Hey, Dr. Laura

Hey, Dr. Laura, I read a piece about you

Talked about GLAAD, and what they tried to do

They twisted your words and told many lies

Truly your accusers now need the alibis

They shouted over you so you couldn’t be heard

Mainstream media wanted the last word

Asked leading questions to trap you on air

But you were believable: they said, “That’s not fair.”

Hey, Dr. Laura, you stood your ground

Hey, Dr. Laura, I’m glad you’re around

Your character shined above your accusers

Claimed civil rights, but they were the abusers

Hey, Dr. Laura, your legacy…

In America speech has got to be free

Dr. Laura – Lady Liberty

In America speech has got to be free

They used words you said, but took them out of context

The mob followed suit, as if they’d been hexed

They threatened your life for a word or two

Their actions were familiar, like seen in a zoo

You went through some hard times when chicken-hearts bailed

Tried to break your spirit: I’m glad they failed

Sadly, it took awhile to rise again

But you still seem to feel comfortable in your skin

(It’s amazing what being true to yourself can do)

Hey, Dr. Laura, you stood your ground

Hey, Dr. Laura, I’m glad you’re around

Your character shined above your accusers

Claimed civil rights: but they were the abusers

Hey, Dr. Laura – your legacy…

In America speech has got to be free

Dr. Laura – Lady Liberty

She was well known until certain activist groups who only think of their own lifestyles tried to ruin her in a smear campaign. And that irks me. Just like my about page states, freedom of speech, and other freedoms mean a lot to me.

Freedom of speech is one of the cornerstones of the US. Sadly, some groups and people believe that only applies to them. Take the Super Bowl halftime fiasco, for instance.
